token money

Hello Sir,

We had a deal with a buyer for our family owned land in the month of May last year, but no formal agreement was signed by then. My uncles however have taken 1m as a token money and gave acknowledgement on a piece of paper.

And after that, they have given an ad in the local newspaper stating that they are going to purchase a land from us and inviting any claims (if any).

The buyer, probably having no money to pay the land cost, did not turned-back to us for an agreement.

Now, after around a year, another party (who are relatives of the first buyer) approached us to buy the same. They said that we need to pay 2m in return to the first buyer in order for us to get our land back.

Now, when we had spoken to the first buyer that we are going to payback the 1m taken as an advance! They said, they will only take the money when we ensure them that we shall make a deal with the second buyer!

I have told him that this is our land and we have full right to sell whosoever we want! In reply, he said that he shall bring us in the court of law and that our land will be in dispute for years.
The only way to avoid this, is to make a deal with them.

Now, they are harassing us for that! Please if you can assist how we can come out from that situation.
