Is there any law in Pakistan for the custody of CNIC? Can any person, e.g. a policeman, demand to take custody of my CNIC from my person? Is my refusal to hand over my CNIC against any rule? Is collection of a person’s CNIC as a guarantee, at places like entrances to various places, lawful? Am I correct in believing that universally no individual’s ID can be confiscated or taken from his person against his consent, or kept as a guarantee for anything. Please offer your Worthy expert opinion in light of the existing law/rules in Pakistan. Please also quote the authorities for my reference.
